Chelsea Elizabeth Lloyd

Born on March 6th, 1985 in Shelbyville, TN.  Lived in Tennessee until 3rd grade, then moved to South Carolina during 4th grade, then up to Maine until graduating from Sanford High School with honors in 2003. College was next on the academic list, so I went to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. I graduated magna cum laude and received a Bachelors in Fine Art (BFA) degree with a concentration in Sculpture and a minor in Printmaking in 2008. After college, I lived in Nashville, TN for a few years then moved over to the Knoxville area in 2014.

Artist Statement:

My work is deeply inspired by nature and organic forms. I enjoy using an inorganic material, such as metal, to create forms that seem to grow. I am inspired by spider webs, lace, and dream-catchers. I love the way that the lines mingle in space to tantalize our ocular receptors. The use of line is throughout a majority of my work, although I have yet to manifest a completely cohesive collection. My next adventure will be oil painting. I am currently enormously compelled to paint landscapes and the ever changing sky.
